Does the “Apps we like category from Philips Hue” reflect what you guys like?

Hi guys,

I have a few questions concerning the Apps we like category on the Philipps Hue page

I was wondering if the apps we like category reflect the needs you guys have?

Also, can you find all the Apps in there you use most and does the selection process seem well though out to you?

**Short disclaimer**: I am a Master university student working on a Philipps Hue case. We try to develop a way to manage the existing apps and apps that will be developed in the future in a way that gives more concern to the end users. Happy about input of any sorts 🙂

Kind regards.

Hey Matthias. Very good question. I don’t feel Philips is doing a good job there. There are some apps that are well placed – e.g. IFTTT or Sleep Cycle. But apps like iConnectHue or Hue Lights are not really that good and shouldn’t be highlighted.

On the other hand I feel apps like Ambee (which is really professionally made) definitely deserves the spot to be highlighted there. Don’t get why they didn’t choose it.

In my opinion, there should be a voting in the app for it, not as it is now – based on a subjective opinion of one guy that chooses which apps to highlight.

I’m wondering what Philips will reply to this if you ask what algorithm they use for app selection. If you find out more @Matthias, please share it back here.

Good luck with your project 🙂
