Getting started

I don’t know where I’ve been over the past few years – how have I not heard of Phillips hue until now? Clearly I’ve been living under a rock as my uncle recently told me that he got several Phillips hue bulbs/light strips/motion sensors and an Amazon echo.
Unlike my uncle I can’t afford to buy it all right now and will have to build a collection overtime. I’m just wondering where’s best to start. I’ve seen a starter kit with 2 x white bulbs and a bridge for £60, but I’m not sure about just getting white bulbs. I can imagine in months to come I’ll regret it and wish I’d got the colour ambiance started kit for £150.
However, I’m not sure how often I’ll use all of the colours, if at all.
I like the look of the white ambiance bulbs as sometimes you need bright clear lighting and other you want a more relaxed, dimmer light. Do the colour ambiance reproduce the same colours as the white ambiance or can you only get the white ambiance tones from the white ambiance bulbs (if that makes sense).
Also, what’s the latest version of the bridge? Is there a bridge V3.0?

Hey Freeman. It’s definitely worth getting the colorful bulbs, even though it costs more. In my opinion, white ones are only 10% of the colorful’s value. The only way to find out whether you’ll be using the colors regularly only by testing it yourself in your home.

Colors from the 3rd gen bulbs are much better. There is no v.3 bridge.

Hi jaws, thanks for your reply! Maybe I’ll get the starter pack with the 3 colour bulbs and see how I go as to how often I’ll use the colour. That’s also good to know about there not being a v3.0 of the bridge. Can’t wait to get my hands on them!
