Max number of Hue lights connected to Hue Bridge

Philips online documentation states you can add up to 50 lights on one Hue Bridge, but some users report they could only add approx 32 to 35 lights before needing to add another Hue Bridge. I’m wondering if the Hue devices (dimmer switches, motion sensors) also count towards the “light” count? Has anyone else also experienced this limit? I’m also assuming all of the Hue lights and Hue devices configured to multiple bridges can still be monitored/controlled via the Home app (HomeKit)?

I’ve just heard back from Philips Hue saying up to 50 lights and 12 accessories can be added to a Hue Bridge. I’ve been assured that the limitation experienced by other users stating they could only connect 32 or 35 max lights is an unrelated issue vs the Hue Bridge limitation.

Hue Bridge can control up to 50 bulbs, this can be a mixture of different bulbs, lights and strips.

Skylig wow! You mean all 54 lights and sensors/switches are running via one Hue Bridge?

That Correct ! I’m using an app thats called Hue Inspector for IPhone and it says i van Connect 10 more lights. But with the new Hue app you can control 2 hubs in the same app . In the next month i will add 6 more lights , One sensor and one switch.

Good info. I’m running 43 lights, 5 switches and 2 sensors and am wondering how much further I can go. I’ve heard that adding a second hub is not very workable as everything has to be managed via a second completely separate hue app / hue login (not sure if that is true though).

I can confirm a second bridge is unwieldy. We maxed out on the number of accessories needed and got another bridge. Although it can be managed under the same Hue account, the second bridge can’t be controlled via Google Home etc. You have to go into the app and manually switch to the other bridge to see your lights.
